Tour de Suisse Round Table Switzerland

On Saturday April 10th an adventure of the highest ranking Swiss round tablers is starting. On their bike they’ll cross Switzerland and raise funds for less privileged children.

Vice president Jörg Schorr and President Mathias Müller will visit all local clubs in the week prior to the annual general meeting.
Whilst motivating all local members to joint the annual meeting as much as possible money shall be collected to support children:

Social project „Movement is Freedom“
Biking, hiking, thinking, travelling… all these movements seems to be just normal for most of us. But this isn’t the case for handicapped children, no matter whether the handicap is of social, skeletal or intellectual manor. Collecting money will help us to support such children in Switzerland. Depending on the funds we raise, own activities such as holiday camps or existing projects will be supported.

Lottery
To make the fundraising more interesting for everybody, we will link it to a lottery. Everybody can attend and win attractive prices in the same time.

The question to be answered is very simple: How many kilometres will the two ride on their bikes during this week? The amount to spend is very small: CHF 5.- per bet. As they can take the train whenever the two get tired, the distance will be somewhere in between 200 and 600. To increase your chances to win, you can bet more than once of course.

Money allocation
80% of the money raised will be spent directly in our social project „Movement is Freedom“.
20% will be used for the lottery prices.

Donations
Donations will for sure be welcome as well. There’s no need to participate in the lottery. Everybody is invited to spend the amount he wants to support our project. 100% of the donated money will directly support the children.

Annual general assembly of Round Table in Lucerne
on April 17th 2010

Guest speaker: Otto Ineichen

The 2010 annual general assembly of Round Table Switzerland (RTS) will be held on Saturday, April 17th in Lucerne. More than 200 guests all over Switzerland as well as delegates from other countries will participate. After the official meeting in the KKL on Saturday morning, a Gala evening will be held in the splendid Hotel Hermitage.
It's a great honour that we could win Otto Ineichen as a guest speaker for this event. With his support of the "esperanza" fondation he's heart is beating for the same purpose as ours.

RTS remains neutral in terms of religion and confessional view. Members are young men from 18 to 40 years. In by-weekly meetings ideas and experiences in life and job are exchanged. A main part of our community is the organisation of regional, national and international social projects. As most members are young fathers, children are the most beneficiary of our projects.

Please find a short list of some of the fundraising events in Switzerland in 2009:
•    CHF 10'000.- have been collected with the help of round table friends from France and Belgium to support research in children’s cancer.
•    100 gifts were distributed to childrens hit by the shut-down of a factory just before Christmas.
•    Playground renovation and mounting of a new office room for a refuge of battered women.
•    International fundraising of over 100'000.- € in only one week to aid rebuilding a school after the earthquake in Aquila, Italy.

Round Table does exist since the year 1951 in Switzerland. The first table in the world has been founded in Norwich, England in 1927. The founder Erminio William Louis Marchesi was born 19th January 1898 of an Irish Mother, and a Swiss Father. His father was of the small town of Poschiavo. The family name lives on to this day in the town for the donation of the Church and Hospital to the local community.

Round Table exists in more than 67 countries and has as one of its aims "to further the establishment of peace and goodwill in international relationships". Round Table is actively involved in raising money and helping the community. Most of the projects by Round Table Internationally focus on helping young children either by educating them or by providing Schools and Health care. About 33'000 members are organised in local clubs all over the world. Along with its affiliated associations: Club 41 International and Ladies Circle International, Round Table International forms one of the largest service and fellowship clubs in the World.
